The Lusitano is one of the world's oldest breeds. Closely related to the Andalusian of Spain, these breeds originated on the Iberian Peninsula. In the late 1960's the breeds split, and in Portugal today, the breed is known as the Lusitano, or Puro Sangue Lusitano.
