Cloud, an unmistakable pale palomino stallion roaming free in Montana’s Pryor Mountains, had his life documented from his birth in 1995 by Emmy-winning filmmaker Ginger Kathrens. Kathrens’ films about Cloud and his herd have aired on the PBS series Nature, and inspired many to learn about the plight and incredible lives of mustangs in the American west.
Encore, Cloud’s look-alike daughter with mare Feldspar, was born in 2013. Stolen away by a group of bachelor stallions on her first birthday, Encore’s luck changed when she was championed by the young roan stallion Knight. On August 2, 2019 they welcomed their first foal – a black colt with a white star and slash of white on the tip of his nose, similar to the markings of Cloud’s sire, Raven! This special colt was given the name Tor, which means a “high rocky hill.” Tor was also one of the first Knight’s of King Arthur’s round table!
Living wild and free, Encore and Tor continue Cloud’s story which began in these same Pryor Mountains decades ago - the legacy of America's valuable and inspiring wild mustangs.
